Lucas concedes that he has not always covered himself in glory during his time in a Liverpool shirt.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Gremio with a lofty reputation having captained his country at Under-20 level but has often struggled to stamp his mark on the side.
Although the likes of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano remain ahead of him in Rafa Benitez's pecking order, Lucas has become a frequent fixture in The Reds' midfield.
"I have had some bad times, especially the last time I started at Anfield against Fulham but you just have to keep your head up and keep working hard," he told the club's official website.
"I'm trying to improve in every game and hopefully I can show my quality every time I play."
Lucas was handed a starting berth in the 1-1 draw at Arsenal on Sunday and admits the side were disappointed not to capitalise on the sending off of Emmanuel Adebayor.
"We had a chance to win at Arsenal, especially because we had one more player than them for most of the second half so we have to be disappointed with a draw," he added.
"We tried to do everything we could to get the second goal but unfortunately we couldn't get the three points.
"We must now focus on our next game and try to get the three points at Anfield against Bolton. We have had three draws in a row at home so it's important we win this game. We need to win our home games.
"Our supporters are always behind us and we want to send them home happy with a win.
"We are at the top of the league and we have to keep going. We have to be confident and just do our job. Everybody at this club wants to win the league and we will trying our best to make that happen."
