Jermaine Pennant could be an addition in January after Real Madrid failed to agree terms with the former Arsenal player.
Former Arsenal and Birmingham winger Jermaine Pennant has missed out on a shock move to Real Madrid due to his high wage demands which might result in Wigan bringing in the winger on a loan deal until the end of the season.
A £3.5m deal was rumoured to be agreed between Liverpool and Madrid but Pennant was asking for £60,000 week which scared of the admirers of the team who seem to be linked with more Premier League players every day.
This rejection has led to speculation that Stoke and Wigan are lining up deals in January with the Latics being favourites to land Pennant due to Steve Bruce taking Pennant from Arsenal to St Andrews whilst at Birmingham.
If Pennant did arrive it would add healthy competition to an already competitive midfield with Antonio Valencia and Daniel De Ridder battling it out for a starting berth on the right hand side.
