Xabi Alonso insists Liverpool can prove their title credentials by winning tomorrow's Merseyside derby.
The Spain midfielder and his team-mates are desperate to bounce back after being held 0-0 at home by Stoke.
But Alonso believes victory at Everton will show they are ready to compete with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
"We want to show how much we want to win the title this season with another victory," said Alonso.
"That is so important for us, to bring the title back to Anfield.
"I've played in many derbies during my time at Liverpool and I know how special it is because of the atmosphere and the victory lasts a long time for supporters.
"After the draw with Stoke, to go and win at Everton would be sensational. Every win is worth three points but winning a derby tastes even sweeter."
Alonso is well aware of the threat posed by his friend and compatriot Mikel Arteta. "We know he's a key man for Everton and we must stop him," he said.
