Hamburg Will Listen To Offer For Eljero Elia

Liverpool winger target Eljero Elia could leave Hamburg this summer, according to the club.

Technical director Bastian Reinhardt admitted the Bundesliga side would like to keep the Dutch international within their ranks, but claimed that they will listen to 'good offers' for the player.

“In sporting terms we would like to keep him, but when we receive a good offer…” Reinhardt told newspaper BILD.

The paper went on to claim that an offer in the region of £12 million will be enough to prize the former FC Twente speedster away from the Imtech Arena.

Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for the player in the summer, with Elia impressing watching scouts with a handful of impressive cameo performances for Holland in the World Cup on route to the final.

Former Anfield chief Roy Hodgson was also linked with a move for the player in the opening days of January, but the then Liverpool manager received his marching orders and an offer never materialized.

Whilst it's unknown if Kenny Dalglish has followed up the interest, director of football Damien Comolli is believed to be an admirer of the player and could play a role in trying to bring the player to Merseyside.

Dalglish has been linked with a number of wingers in recent weeks, and both he and Comolli have said that additions will be made to the Liverpool playing staff in the summer. Ashley Young, Matt Jarvis and Sylvain Marveaux are just three of the players thought to be on the club's radar.

A left back and central midfielder are also thought to be of priority for the Liverpool legend-come-manager, and the Scot appears set for a busy period in the transfer market at the end of the season.
