HIGHLY-rated Wrexham head of youth development Steve Cooper has accepted an offer to join Liverpool.
Cooper has been involved at Wrexham for 12 years, starting as a player, before moving into the coaching set-up and eventually taking the position as head of youth development.
And because of his work with the Dragons, he has been offered a role within Liverpool’s schoolboy development set up.
But Cooper admits it was a tough decision to leave Wrexham after being at the club for so long.
“I have had to think long and hard about the move, but it was just something I couldn’t refuse,” he said.
“The hardest part of leaving was telling the young players we have at the club.
“I have grown up with them and you develop a bond with them, which is very hard to break.
“Wrexham is a very big part of my life I live in the town and will continue to do so. My kids were born here, so this is a big step for me.
“It’s an exciting offer from Liverpool, but also a doubled edged sword in that I will be leaving a club which I feel very much part of.”
