Defeat to Manchester United almost two weeks ago was a bitter pill to swallow for the Liverpool faithful, but the club's owners have become reluctantly accustomed to losing out against their biggest rivals.
Fenway Sports Group's other team across the Atlantic, the Boston Red Sox, have just ended their worst season for 47 years - which included a staggering 13 losses against arch rivals the New York Yankees.
Liverpool fans would loath to contemplate losing just once to Manchester United in a single season, but can surely be thankful they do not have to face a pummelling similar to their American brothers.
