Wisdom Scores In Historic Triumph

Liverpool's Andre Wisdom scored at both ends as England beat Spain 2-1 to lift their first ever European U17 Championships on Sunday.

The 17-year-old Academy defender gave the Spaniards a lead with an own goal on 21 minutes.

He soon made amends, however, by heading home a 29th minute leveler.

The winner came through Ipswich Town's promising striker Connor Wickham with 42 minutes on the clock.

Another Liverpool product, 17-year-old midfielder Conor Coady, had the honor of lifting the trophy after captaining the Three Lions throughout the tournament in Liechtenstein.

It is the first men's competition England has won since 1993 when the likes of Robbie Fowler, Paul Scholes and Sol Campbell clinched the European U18 Championships.
