Valencia's David Silva and David Villa have been the subject of speculation ever since the Euro2008 tournament, and with the financial crisis at their club Valencia, it was only a matter of time before a big offer came in to test the waters.
If the response is favourable it could start an avalanche of offers for the two stars. It seems that Roma have put the first offer into Valencia, bidding a rumoured €25million for David Silva.
Silva's agent Julio Llorente told reporters: “I haven’t had any contact with Roma but I know that the Italian club has made an offer to Valencia for the player,”
“I do not know in what terms or circumstances this offer was made but I can confirm that Roma did offer a certain amount for Silva.”
Liverpool have been known to be interested in a winger of that class for some time, and Silva himself has been specifically linked to Rafael Benitez's team as a perfect player to supply the crosses for his Spanish team mate, Fernando Torres.
Now Rafael Benitez is waiting with bated breath to see what Valencia's response will be.
