Dejan Lovren is set to join Liverpool from Southampton in the next 24 hours.
Reports earlier today suggested that the Saints were preparing to let Lovren leave as they lined up a bid for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar.
But reports in Croatia suggest that a deal is now imminent and could be confirmed as soon as this evening.
It is thought that 25-year-old will now sign a four-deal at Anfield after the Reds agreed to fork over £16m for the former Lyon star.
Lovren has been agitating for a move after seeing some of the Saints top talent follow Mauricio Pochettino out the Saint Mary's exit door.
Earlier today Ronald Koeman told Fox Sport: "Ron [Vlaar] would definitely be an option.
"But I think he won't be cheap right now. Let's just wait and see.
"We just have to wait how it develops.
"For now, Dejan can still play with us. I don't want to lose him but, if he leaves he will only go for a top price."
But it seems that Liverpool have now met Southampton's demands and Lovren now looks set to join former Saints teammates Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana on Merseyside.
