Liverpool are considering a move for Real Sociedad’s Xabi Prieto as they continue their exhaustive attempts to rebuild for next season.
Prieto came through the ranks at Real Sociedad and along with Antoine Griezmann, who Liverpool has also watched, is one of the Basque club’s most saleable assets.
The skilful midfielder, 27, plays on the right or centre and would command a fee in the region of £8million, but has a reputation for blowing hot and cold.
Griezmann came close to joining Liverpool during the last transfer window and the 20-year-old remains high on the Anfield club’s wanted list.
Barcelona’s Jeffren Suarez has also been mentioned.
Liverpool are confident Luis Suarez will be fit for their next Barclays Premier League match at West Bromwich Albion on April 2, even though he has been forced to pull out of Uruguay’s squad for friendlies against Estonia and the Republic of Ireland with a groin problem.
