Pennant Fuels Tottenham Speculation

Jermaine Pennant has fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham after he rejected the opportunity to talk to Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers according to Sunday Mercury.net. Rafa Benitez warned Pennant that his first team opportunities would be limited in the summer however the former gunner urged Benitez to let him stay and fight for his place.

Pennant can leave in the summer for a free transfer if he doesn't reach fifteen appearances for Liverpool this season, hence the reason Benitez is desperate to cash in on the winger in January, or the Spaniard maybe forced to start using him, or risk losing the wide man for nothing next summer.

Pennant reportedly craves a return to London following his home being burgled. Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has shown in interest in the player after failing to sign him in the summer when he was Portsmouth manager.

Pennant's rejections of the advances of Stoke and Blackburn could signal the path for a cut price move to London. Benitez may only be able to ask between £2 and £4 million for a player that could leave on a free transfer in January.
