Liverpool appears to be at the front of the queue to prise Kurt Zouma away from St Etienne this summer.
The 18-year-old is one of the brightest defensive prospects and has enjoyed a fine breakthrough season after coming through the club's youth ranks.
The Reds are scouring the market for a centre back with Jamie Carragher retiring at the end of the season.
Though the club has identified Raul Albiol as a potential replacement, Zouma has now been added to the shortlist.
Zouma's agent, David Vanditelli, has confirmed that there is interest from Liverpool and thinks he would benefit from a move to Anfield even if he were to sit on the bench.
"Playing in the Europa League is a prospect that pleases him. But Liverpool and other clubs are very interesting," Vanditelli told Eurosport France.
"He could leave to sit on the bench, but it is better to be on the bench of a big club like Liverpool, with all due respect to Saint Etienne."
Zouma has clocked up 16 appearances this season, and has netted twice in Ligue 1.
