Rodgers Rules Out Sterling Loan

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has ruled out sending young star Raheem Sterling on loan after impressing at the start of the season.

Sterling was outstanding for the Reds in his first Premier League start for the club in last weekend's draw with champions Manchester City.

It was initially thought Liverpool would consider loaning out Sterling this season so that he could get some valuable first-team experience under his belt, but the 17-year-old has quickly established himself in Rodgers' plans.

A number of clubs were thought to be keen on taking Sterling on loan, but Rodgers has now ruled out a move for the teenager as he wants him to continue his development at Anfield.

"I've seen a lot of development in him in a short time because he takes on a lot of the concepts and he is very good with instructions," said Rodgers.

"Normally wingers want to do their own thing but he is tactically improving every day.

"I am certain over the next few years that he will develop into a very good footballer.

"We just have to make sure that we keep the pressure off him.

"He certainly won't be going on loan and I believe that if we can help and nurture him in the right way, then he will be a very good player for Liverpool."
