Liverpool Star Admits Return To Anfield Will Be Special

Liverpool star Lucas Leiva has revealed he can’t wait to play at Anfield against FC Gomel as he continues his rehabilitation after a serious knee injury.

The Brazilian midfielder, 25, is likely to play a part in the Reds’ Europa League qualifying round second leg clash with the Belarusians on Thursday.

And Liverpool will go into the game with a 1-0 lead thanks to Stewart Downing’s strike in the first leg last week.

Lucas was able to get some valuable playing time under his belt as a substitute in that match and following after nine months on the sidelines he has told the club’s official website he is excited about returning to the field and playing in front of the Kop.

"I think it will be a special moment for me when I go to warm up at Anfield or if I come on because I have been out a long time and watching from the stands," Lucas told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It will be a special day for me and I hope it will be another step for me. I'm looking forward to meeting the fans again and playing at Anfield. It's where I really feel strong and comfortable and where I had very good performances before the injury. I can't wait to meet the fans again."
