Konchesky Deal On hold

Wolves have put their move for Liverpool left back Paul Konchesky on hold as they look to strengthen other areas of their squad first.

Liverpool are happy to allow the former Fulham man leave Anfield for a fraction of the £3.5m they paid for him last summer, after he failed to settle into life with the Reds, and Wolves were said to be lining up a bid for the player.

The 30-year-old, who spent most of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, is apparently prepared to take a cut in his wages - which are thought to be around £40,000 a week - in order to get a move to a new club.

Boss Mick McCarthy is thought to be after a goalkeeper and a centre-half first and will concentrate on those areas before he addresses the left-back situation.
